How to execute an efficient ‘Proof of Concept’ process

In step 2 you’ll learn how to do a 30-day ‘Proof of Concept’ process. This approach will help you to validate your ‘big course’ goals by creating a bite-sized piece and showing it to real students who will then give you real feedback about whether or not your big online course idea is even needed.

Included in this step

Some of the key areas we will tackle in Step 2 as we test and prove your Online Learning Concept.

Course Research

We’ll do some in depth research into your industry, competitors, and market to gain knowledge into what the need is for Online Learning in your sector. We will also talk to internal team members or current clients to gain further insight into what the actual need is for online learning.

Select Test Audience

We’ll need to find a test audience to test the proof of concept phase. This will be a small group of potential clients, internal team members, or volunteers who can give some initial feedback on our content.

Write a Blog Post

We’ll pick a test topic and write a preliminary blog article that represents the content we want to share through our online learning platform. This is essentially a “taster” of what your client would get through your complete online course.

Create a Video Lesson

Just like the blog post, we want to test how your content will work through video. We’ll create a short 10 minute video lesson based on your blog post to show to your test audience.

How do you know that your big signature online course will be a success?

Too many creators let their ego convince them that they should build a full online course first (as in, hundreds of people-hours, 5 modules, 50 lessons with quizzes and exams).

Eight to twelve months later, after they complete the full course, then they decide it’s time to introduce the course to potential students. And when the students don’t love-it-buy it-complete-it-promote it…the online course creators are shocked.

What happened? Why didn’t they like the course? What’s wrong with them?

There is a deep eLearning graveyard of fully produced online courses.

Expert Training Solutions will not let your course end up in that graveyard.

That’s why we help you validate your online course idea first by taking you through a ‘Proof of Concept’ in 30 days or less.

This approach will not only help you validate your online training idea, but it will also help you save a lot of time and money if you’re wrong – and really help you to move quickly if you are right.

The basic idea is to create a bite sized piece of your full course idea, and then show it to a sample of potential students and get their real world feedback.

After they get a sample of the course, if they tell you that they would pay for it and complete it because it is valuable, then you know you’re on the right track.

If they tell you it’s a bad idea and that nobody will ever buy it or complete it – then you can stop – and you will have only spent 25-30 hours working on it – and then you can modify your idea, or move on!
